Ripple has partnered with Privy, the embedded wallet infrastructure owned by Stripe, to allow developers to create XRP Ledger wallets programmatically and transact with XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets on the network. The partnership enables developers to build payment and commerce applications without requiring users to manage separate wallet software.
Privy's embedded wallet product lets applications handle key custody and transaction signing within their own interfaces. The integration with XRPL means developers can now build XRP-native applications, such as payment processors or commerce platforms, while Privy abstracts the underlying wallet infrastructure from end users.
Joel Katz, CTO Emeritus at Ripple, said the XRPL was originally designed around payments-first infrastructure. "Payments are behind almost every financial use case," Katz said in an interview. "Originally, wallets should be really good at payments and then build financial infrastructure around that, and that's how the network operates."
Ripple's RLUSD is a stablecoin issued on the XRP Ledger and pegged to the US dollar. The token was designed to enable faster settlement for institutional payments and corridors, though it has seen limited adoption compared to USDT or USDC on Ethereum.

Stripe acquired Privy in 2023 and has been marketing embedded wallets to fintech platforms seeking to add crypto-native features without building wallet technology in-house.
Developers can now access XRPL payment infrastructure through Privy's SDK. The announcement did not specify deployment timelines, developer adoption targets, or planned integrations with other XRPL-native assets beyond XRP and RLUSD.
Privy's integration with XRPL joins existing partnerships on Ethereum, Solana, and Base. If adoption mirrors Privy's trajectory on other chains, the XRPL could see an increase in consumer-facing applications built by developers unfamiliar with direct ledger integration, a category that currently remains narrow for the network outside institutional corridors.
