Pyth Network began supplying price feeds for CXMT, China's largest semiconductor initial public offering, at the Shanghai stock exchange opening today. The chipmaker raised $8.6 billion in what the company says is the largest chip listing in Chinese history.

Pyth's oracle infrastructure now covers a traditional market asset on its first day of trading. The oracle network, which has historically served decentralized finance applications with cryptocurrency and commodity price data, expanded its scope to include equities-market feeds. CXMT, a memory chipmaker, began trading on the Shanghai exchange at market open.

Pyth operates a network of price providers who submit data to a smart contract, which aggregates confidence-weighted submissions and publishes a single price feed. The network has provided real-time pricing for crypto assets and derivatives since 2021 and began covering commodities including oil and metals in 2024. The addition of CXMT marks an entry into Asian equities through a major state-backed listing.

The timing aligns with CXMT's Shanghai listing after months of regulatory scrutiny over semiconductor technology transfers and offshore finance structures. Chinese tech firms face export controls and semiconductor supply chain restrictions from the United States.

Chainlink, the largest oracle provider by market share, has similarly expanded to cover spot prices for equities and funds. Neither network was previously known for publishing prices on assets trading on major stock exchanges until this year.

The network to watch is whether Pyth maintains consistent participation from price providers and maintains data accuracy during high-volatility trading in CXMT stock, which could determine whether traditional exchanges view oracle networks as reliable pricing infrastructure for their listed assets.
