South Korea's largest trading company POSCO International and LG CNS, the technology arm of LG Group, have selected Injective to tokenize trade receivables in a pilot program, according to the announcement. The two companies will test the tokenization of real trade receivables on the Injective blockchain, with a production deployment planned for 2026.

Trade receivables, invoices and payment obligations owed by buyers to sellers, typically remain locked on corporate balance sheets until maturity or sale at a discount. Tokenizing them on a public blockchain could allow POSCO and LG CNS to unlock liquidity faster and reduce friction in settlement cycles.

POSCO International operates as a general trading company with global commodity and logistics operations. LG CNS provides enterprise software and technology services to LG Group and external clients. The selection of Injective, an application-specific blockchain designed for trading and derivatives, reflects the companies' choice to use the network's settlement and liquidity infrastructure rather than building custom smart contract solutions.

Tokenized receivables have emerged as an institutional use case for public blockchains, separate from speculation in digital assets. The infrastructure allows corporations to issue debt-like instruments with programmable settlement and automated verification. Unlike past pilots in the space, this deployment anchors to a major conglomerate's actual trade flows rather than a proof-of-concept environment.

The timeline to production in 2026 places the rollout amid broader South Korean regulatory attention to digital assets and blockchain infrastructure. The country's Financial Services Commission has gradually expanded rules around cryptocurrency trading platforms and digital asset custody, though tokenization of corporate financial instruments remains less heavily regulated than crypto spot markets.

Injective has positioned itself as infrastructure for institutional trading and settlement. A production deployment by POSCO and LG CNS would represent the network's largest enterprise adoption by transaction volume and corporate scale to date. Success in this pilot could prompt other major South Korean trading houses or conglomerates to evaluate similar tokenization programs.

The mechanism POSCO and LG CNS will use on Injective to verify, issue, and settle tokenized receivables remains unspecified. The scope of the pilot, number of receivables, transaction sizes, or settlement frequency, has not been disclosed by either company or Injective.
