VinSpace, the space unit of Vietnam's Vingroup conglomerate, has signed a contract with SpaceX to launch satellites in 2027 on a Transporter rideshare mission, the company announced on August 11.
VinSpace was established in November 2025 as Vingroup's dedicated space arm. The contract is the first publicly disclosed commercial space launch agreement by a major Vietnamese corporation. SpaceX's Transporter missions carry multiple customer payloads on a single Falcon 9 flight, lowering per-launch costs for smaller operators.
The announcement did not disclose the number of satellites VinSpace plans to deploy or the contract value. Transporter missions typically accommodate payloads ranging from small cubesats to larger commercial satellites, with launch costs varying by mass and orbit.
Vingroup is Vietnam's largest private conglomerate, with interests spanning real estate, retail, automotive and consumer electronics. VinSpace will participate in the global commercial space sector, which has expanded significantly since private launch providers including SpaceX reduced barriers to entry for non-governmental operators.
SpaceX has conducted 10 Transporter rideshare missions since 2021, deploying hundreds of satellites for commercial, governmental and academic customers. The company maintains a manifest of scheduled launches into 2028, with Transporter flights typically occurring every four to six months.
VinSpace's entry into satellite operations via SpaceX adds another Southeast Asian corporation to the roster of space-based service operators, particularly in communications and Earth observation. No other Vietnamese companies have announced comparable launch contracts with major providers.
The 2027 launch window gives VinSpace approximately 18 months to finalize satellite specifications and integrate payloads. If VinSpace has not completed its satellite hardware by the first half of 2027, the company would likely face delays to its manifest slot on the Transporter mission.
