Tether's XUAT tokenized gold product has reached 79,300 holders on BNB Chain, growing roughly 29-fold over the past three months since its March launch on the network.
The token tracks the price of physical gold stored in Tether vaults and trades on decentralized exchanges. BNB Chain's integration marks Tether's expansion of XAUT beyond Ethereum, where the asset launched in 2023. The token had previously been available on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and other layer-one networks.

Tether Gold, the company's official name for XAUT, allows users to hold fractional gold claims on-chain without custody of the physical bars. Each token represents one troy ounce of gold stored in allocated vaults. The product competes with other tokenized commodities including Paxos' PAXG and iM Global Partner's IPGOLD.

BNB Chain processed the integration as part of its infrastructure for tokenized assets. The network has positioned itself as a hub for real-world asset tokens, with multiple commodity and equity products launching throughout 2024 and 2025.
Tether's broader XUAT adoption has grown as institutions and retail holders seek on-chain gold exposure without moving between centralized and decentralized venues. Tokenized gold products in aggregate have accumulated billions in notional holdings as spot bitcoin and gold prices have risen in tandem with macro uncertainty.
The 29-fold increase in holders over three months translates to an average monthly growth rate of roughly 7x, though adoption curves for niche token types tend to appear nonlinear early in their deployment. Comparable early-stage commodity tokens have shown slower accumulation of holders on secondary chains.
Tether's decision to deploy on BNB Chain diversifies its token infrastructure and reduces single-network risk for XAUT holders. If BNB Chain integration does not sustain holder growth above 50K addresses by end of Q4 2026, the token's adoption trajectory on the network will have stalled.
