Tether's omnichain stablecoin USDT0 went live on the Stellar network on September 2, connecting $180 billion in unified USDT liquidity across blockchains through the LayerZero cross-chain standard, according to the announcement.

The deployment uses LayerZero's omnichain architecture to let USDT move between Stellar and other supported networks without wrapping or intermediary tokens. Stellar's transaction costs run below one cent, and the network processed $5.5 billion in stablecoin volume during the first quarter of 2026 before the USDT0 launch.

Tether has issued USDT on nine blockchains as of mid-2026. The omnichain standard allows a single pool of USDT to serve multiple networks simultaneously rather than isolating liquidity on each chain. LayerZero operates through a network of independent verifiers rather than a central relay, a design Tether has adopted on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Tron and Solana.

Stellar's validator set includes Coinbase, IBM and the Stellar Development Foundation. The network prioritizes low-friction payments and remittances. USDT0 on Stellar allows stablecoin flows to route through a settlement layer with sub-second finality and flat fees, compared to Ethereum's variable gas costs and multi-second block times.

Tether did not provide an immediate volume forecast for USDT0 on Stellar or a timeline for enabling other stablecoin pairs via LayerZero. The company says the deployment is live for transfers between Stellar and other integrated chains but did not name specific counterparties or use cases in the announcement.

Tether controls roughly 72 percent of the stablecoin market by circulating supply as of September 2026, with $118 billion in total USDT issued across all networks. LayerZero has enabled omnichain deployments for other token projects but the Tether integration represents the largest liquidity pool to use the standard across multiple settlement layers. If USDT0 volume on Stellar remains below $500 million monthly by year-end, adoption velocity on the network will have stayed flat.
