Strategy reported holdings of 840,447 bitcoin with an aggregate purchase price of $63.36 billion as of August 23, according to a Form 8-K filing with the SEC. The company said it now holds the world's largest corporate bitcoin treasury.

Strategy acquired the additional bitcoin since its last major disclosure, part of a pattern that has made it the primary public vehicle for institutional bitcoin accumulation in the corporate sector. The company's holdings are approximately 4.1 percent of bitcoin's current circulating supply of roughly 20.5 million coins. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust holds 804,015 bitcoin across its client base, but that is an ETF structure rather than a corporate treasury held directly by a single company.

Strategy began its bitcoin acquisition program in 2020 under founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor. The company has said it uses bitcoin as a primary reserve asset, similar to how corporations have traditionally held cash or Treasury securities. Strategy issued bonds and equity to fund purchases, and the company has not sold material amounts of its holdings despite repeated price swings.

The 840,447-coin position values Strategy's holdings at approximately $52.5 billion at current prices near $62,500 per bitcoin. The gap between the $63.36 billion aggregate cost and current market value reflects the company's entry prices across a six-year span in which bitcoin traded as low as $16,500 and as high as $108,000.

Strategy's treasury strategy has drawn scrutiny from some shareholders and analysts who question the concentration risk and opportunity cost of holding a single volatile asset. Others have argued the position demonstrates institutional confidence in bitcoin's long-term utility and store-of-value properties. The company has remained silent on any plans to adjust the position size or diversify holdings.

Strategy's market capitalization of roughly $70 billion means bitcoin makes up the majority of its asset base. The company's treasury accumulation rate slowed in 2025 compared to prior years, though the latest filing shows holdings were maintained at current levels through August.

Strategy's next quarterly disclosure will show whether the company adds to 840,447 coins or holds steady. That figure will determine whether the company views current bitcoin prices as attractive for additional deployment or prefers to preserve its position size.
