Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin is now live on South Korea's four largest crypto exchanges, Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit, with Korean won trading pairs enabled across all platforms. Upbit and Bithumb added the token on July 28 and July 29 respectively, joining Coinone and Korbit in the rollout.

The expansion grants RLUSD direct won access in one of Asia's most active crypto markets. South Korea's exchange ecosystem processed over 1.3 trillion won in daily volume in the first half of 2026, according to local regulatory filings. The four exchanges collectively control roughly 70 percent of South Korea's retail trading volume, making the simultaneous listing a significant distribution milestone for Ripple's stablecoin offering.

RLUSD is an Ethereum-based stablecoin backed 1:1 by US dollar reserves. Ripple publishes monthly attestations of its reserve holdings through third-party auditors, though the company has not yet disclosed the total reserve pool size publicly. The token launched in May 2024 with listings on a handful of crypto venues and has gradually expanded to over 15 exchanges globally.

South Korea's regulatory environment has warmed to stablecoins following the country's passage of the Digital Assets Act in late 2025, which established licensing requirements for stablecoin issuers but did not ban the products outright. The won-paired listings remove a friction point for Korean traders who previously had to convert between RLUSD and Korean won through intermediate steps.

Ripple has positioned RLUSD as a settlement tool for regional payments and remittances. The company claims the stablecoin reduces cross-border transaction costs by up to 90 percent compared to traditional wire transfers, though the company is talking its book on efficiency claims and has not published third-party benchmarks.

RLUSD now trades across four of South Korea's top five platforms by volume. Across the four exchanges, the token is available in won pairs on all of them, a step the primary exchanges had resisted for competing stablecoins from other issuers over the past 18 months.

The four-exchange listing in South Korea represents Ripple's largest regional concentration of stablecoin access in a single market outside the United States and Singapore. If RLUSD volumes on won pairs exceed 100 billion won per day within 90 days, adoption velocity in that market will have outpaced Ripple's first 12 months of RLUSD operation globally. The metric that decides execution is whether Upbit's won-pair order books show sustained bid-ask spreads under 0.5 percent, a sign traders treat RLUSD as genuinely liquid versus a novelty listing.
