Ripple Custody now supports Canton Network, enabling institutions to hold and transfer Canton assets within the same custody platform, policy engine and audit trail they use for other digital assets.

The integration, rolled out in Ripple Custody version 1.43 on October 5, consolidates asset management across multiple blockchains on a single infrastructure. Institutions no longer need separate custody arrangements or compliance workflows for Canton holdings; the platform's existing policy engine and audit controls apply uniformly to Canton transactions as they do to other supported assets.

Canton Network, developed by Digital Asset, is a permissioned blockchain designed for financial institutions to settle transactions and manage regulated assets. The network operates with enterprise-grade privacy and control mechanisms, targeting use cases where institutional participants require fine-grained governance over transaction visibility and asset flows. Canton's design emphasizes interoperability with existing financial infrastructure rather than permissionless public settlement.

Ripple Custody serves as a digital asset custodian for institutions, providing key management, settlement integration and compliance reporting for blockchain-based holdings. The platform supports multiple assets and chains under one governance model, reducing operational complexity for firms holding diversified cryptocurrency positions. Custody providers have become a critical infrastructure layer as institutions allocate capital to crypto, with major firms competing on feature depth and regulatory clarity.

The addition of Canton support expands Ripple's footprint in the permissioned blockchain segment, where financial institutions increasingly experiment with digital settlement. Digital Asset has published roadmaps for Canton integration with major custody and settlement providers; Ripple's move represents one of the first public implementations of that ecosystem strategy. Other custody platforms have announced Canton compatibility, but Ripple's unified audit trail and policy model differs from integration models that bolt Canton onto existing systems as a separate silo.

No institution count or asset volumes under management in the Canton custody workflow have been disclosed. Ripple Custody itself does not break out holdings figures by chain or client.
