Ondo Finance launched Ondo Intelligent Portfolios on September 24, a suite of three tokenized investment strategies developed in collaboration with BlackRock that execute rebalancing through on-chain smart contracts.

The three portfolios are BLKHIon, BLKDIGon, and BLKGRWon. Ondo said each strategy corresponds to a distinct BlackRock investment approach and uses automated smart contract logic to rebalance holdings according to predetermined rules. The products allow investors to hold tokenized versions of institutional portfolio strategies without requiring a custodian or intermediary to execute periodic adjustments.

Ondo Finance operates a platform for tokenized real-world assets and alternative investments. The company raised $15 million in a Series B round in March 2025 and has issued multiple on-chain asset classes including tokenized U.S. Treasuries and emerging-market bonds.

BlackRock's participation in the portfolio design represents a formal engagement with tokenized asset strategies by the world's largest asset manager. BlackRock has previously filed applications for spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds in the United States and has explored blockchain custody and settlement infrastructure. The collaboration with Ondo extends that posture into on-chain portfolio management, a segment growing as institutions weigh tokenized alternatives to traditional fund structures.

The smart contract rebalancing mechanism addresses a structural problem in decentralized finance: most DeFi strategies require manual intervention or third-party execution to rebalance across holdings, introducing latency and counterparty risk. Ondo's implementation embeds rebalancing logic directly into the token contract, executing trades and weight adjustments without human discretion once thresholds are triggered. The precise rebalancing rules and thresholds for each portfolio were not disclosed in the announcement.

Ondo's move to formalize partnerships with established asset managers rather than build entirely proprietary strategies follows a pattern seen in tokenized real-world asset issuance broadly: protocols attracting institutional capital by anchoring products to recognized investment houses or regulatory frameworks. The number of tokenized RWA platforms has expanded from roughly five major players in 2024 to over twenty by mid-2026, with offerings now including equity indices, commodity baskets, and multi-asset allocations.

The portfolios are live and available to Ondo platform users as of the announcement date. Ondo did not disclose initial total value locked or investor subscription levels. The watch is whether comparable asset managers follow BlackRock into direct on-chain strategy tokenization or whether Ondo remains the primary platform for such offerings.
