MoonPay and Tron have launched a partnership to enable gasless transactions on the TRX network, removing the requirement for users to hold native TRX tokens to cover on-chain transfer fees. The feature rolled out immediately through Trust Wallet and targets retail participants holding USDT on the Tron blockchain, according to the announcement.
Gasless transaction models abstract away the mechanics of paying network validators by consolidating fee logic into a separate subsidy or sponsorship layer. MoonPay's Trade infrastructure handles the abstraction by processing user transfers without requiring them to first acquire TRX, a friction point that has historically limited onboarding for retail participants unfamiliar with blockchain fee structures. The mechanism operates live inside Trust Wallet, one of the largest self-custody mobile wallets by daily active users.
Tron processed 21.3 million daily active addresses in June 2026, according to on-chain data, and USDT circulating on the network has exceeded $46 billion. The stablecoin accounts for the majority of daily transaction volume on TRX, making it a natural candidate for a frictionless payment feature targeting non-technical users. Tron's average transaction cost has ranged between $0.0001 and $0.001 in recent months, already among the lowest on major blockchains, but absolute costs remain a barrier for users making small-value transfers or first-time purchasers.

Gasless models have emerged across multiple Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks over the past 18 months. Solana-based payment protocols and several Ethereum Layer 2 operators have implemented sponsored transaction features. MoonPay, which facilitates fiat-to-crypto onboarding and in-app trading, has integrated payment abstractions across multiple chains; this partnership expands that offering to TRX holders managing stablecoins.
Trust Wallet, owned by Binance, serves as the exclusive launch partner for the feature. The wallet hosts over 100 million cumulative users and has prioritized stablecoin utility; embedding a gasless transfer mechanism directly into its interface removes an additional step for USDT holders on Tron.
MoonPay and Tron together eliminate the primary technical barrier, acquiring and holding a separate gas token, that discourages retail users from moving stablecoins on-chain. The partnership is now live and available to all Trust Wallet users holding USDT on the TRX network. The number to watch is whether USDT daily transaction volume on Tron increases measurably in the 90 days following launch; if gasless transactions materially reduce friction, on-chain USDT transfers through Trust Wallet should show acceleration relative to the preceding baseline.
