KuCoin's Web3 wallet has added full support for Sui ecosystem assets, two days after Phantom announced it would terminate Sui access on September 24, 2026.
The integration marks a custody shift in the Sui ecosystem at a moment when wallet support is consolidating. Phantom, one of the largest non-custodial wallet providers, cited unspecified technical reasons for the discontinuation in its August 24 announcement. KuCoin responded on August 26 with the new capability, positioning its exchange-backed wallet as an alternative for Sui users who held assets through Phantom.

Phantom has eliminated support for other layer-one networks in recent months, including Monad. The wallet maintains approximately 5 million users across Solana, Ethereum, Polygon and other blockchains. Sui, launched in May 2023 by Mysten Labs, has attracted institutional infrastructure over the past year, with multiple exchanges and custodians integrating native token support.
KuCoin Web3, the exchange's self-custody offering, now lists Sui among its supported ecosystems alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Polygon. The wallet operates as a non-custodial product separate from KuCoin's main exchange wallet, which holds assets on behalf of users.
Phantom users holding Sui assets have until September 24 to withdraw or migrate their positions. The wallet operator has not announced plans to restore Sui support after the discontinuation date. The removal affects holders of the Sui token and other ecosystem tokens built on the Sui blockchain.
KuCoin's move adds Web3 wallet distribution at a time when Sui has secured partnerships with major infrastructure providers including wallet teams at Ledger and Privy. The addition of KuCoin Web3 support gives Sui holders a custodial option tied directly to one of the top ten global cryptocurrency exchanges by volume.
KuCoin Web3 now hosts support for five major blockchain ecosystems compared to Phantom's focus on Solana as its primary network. If Phantom does not announce a reversal by mid-September, the September 24 deadline will remove one of the largest general-purpose wallets from the Sui ecosystem.
