HashKey Group has been named the initial Asian digital asset provider to join a DTCC working group advancing tokenization infrastructure. The Depository Trust Company, which custodies $114 trillion in assets, convened the group in May 2026 to develop standards for digital asset settlement.
The DTCC selected HashKey as part of a working group of approximately 50 financial institutions, asset managers, and technology firms tasked with defining operational frameworks for on-chain settlement and custody of digital securities. The working group's mandate includes designing custody standards, settlement finality mechanisms, and interoperability protocols across multiple blockchain platforms and traditional settlement systems.
HashKey, a Hong Kong-based digital asset platform founded in 2018, operates a licensed exchange and custodial services across Asia. The firm has held a Type 1 Money Broker license from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission since 2023 and has built relationships with institutional investors and regional financial infrastructure providers.

The DTCC has positioned tokenization as central to modernizing post-trade operations. In 2024, the clearing house completed a pilot program for settlement of gold futures on blockchain networks. HashKey is the first representative from Asia admitted to the working group, following selections of providers from the United States and European markets.
Regional custody and settlement infrastructure has grown in complexity as tokenized assets flow across borders, creating demand for harmonized standards and interconnected operational models. The firm joins roughly 49 other institutional participants in defining technical and operational specifications that the DTCC expects will inform industry-wide practice. Implementation timelines and binding standards remain under development, with the working group expected to publish recommendations by the second half of 2027.
HashKey's participation roughly doubles DTCC working group representation from Asian digital asset firms compared to prior quarters. The number to watch is whether HashKey or another Asian custodian secures a formal integration slot with DTCC's tokenization settlement network when the entity publishes its final technical specifications.
