Bitwise's spot Solana ETF crossed $1 billion in assets under management in the past 48 hours, becoming the first US exchange-traded product with direct SOL exposure to reach the milestone. The fund, ticker BSOL, held $948 million on Aug. 24 and saw continued inflows through Aug. 28, with roughly $40 million entering on the first day alone according to the company's chief executive.

Bitwise launched BSOL in October 2025 and maintained the first-mover position in the US spot Solana ETP market through the subsequent months. Competing products from Fidelity and Grayscale have not reached $1 billion AUM. The speed to $1 billion marks a faster accumulation than several other recent crypto ETF launches, though it trails the nearly $11 billion that Bitcoin spot ETFs accumulated in their opening months after SEC approval in January 2024.

SOL rallied 74 percent from Jan. 1 through Aug. 28, 2026, climbing to around $142 per token. Bitwise attributed the inflows to strong institutional demand alongside retail participation, according to the company's statements to executives and holders.

The SEC approved spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in 2024, establishing the regulatory pathway for commodity-linked funds. Solana's classification as a commodity rather than a security enabled the SEC to greenlight BSOL under the same framework. The approval came after years of regulatory uncertainty that had blocked similar products.

Bitwise's broader ETF business has grown substantially. The firm's suite of crypto ETFs, including products tracking Bitcoin and Ethereum, has attracted combined inflows exceeding $3 billion this year, the company said. The Solana ETF's rapid scale-up follows Solana's rising institutional acceptance and the maturation of the crypto derivatives market more broadly.

Bitwise launched BSOL in under ten months and has accumulated $1 billion in AUM. SOL's price trajectory and the broader adoption of Solana-based applications, which have grown but remain concentrated in decentralized finance and non-fungible token segments, will determine whether the fund sustains current inflow velocity.
