The organization operates separately from the Zcash Foundation and other existing entities in the ecosystem. Zcash Labs is structured as a go-to-market entity designed to address specific adoption barriers that have slowed institutional and commercial deployment of the privacy coin.
Privacy coins have faced ongoing regulatory scrutiny and delisting pressure from major exchanges since 2021. Zcash, which uses zero-knowledge proofs to enable optional transaction privacy, has maintained stronger regulatory footing than competitors like Monero, which trades on fewer venues.
