Tether's USDT stablecoin supply on the TRON blockchain reached $87.9 billion in the second quarter, with transfers across the network totaling $2.1 trillion during the same period, according to Messari's State of TRON Q2 2026 report.
The figures place TRON among the largest deployment venues for USDT outside Ethereum. TRON's total USDT supply now represents roughly one-third of Tether's total stablecoin circulation across all blockchains, which exceeded $120 billion by mid-2026.
Messari's report tracked on-chain activity across TRON's ecosystem in the second quarter. The $2.1 trillion figure encompasses all USDT transfers on the chain, a metric that captures transaction volume rather than unique value moved. TRON has positioned itself as a low-cost settlement layer for stablecoin transfers, with transaction fees measured in fractions of a cent compared to Ethereum's variable gas costs.
Tether expanded its TRON issuance significantly through 2025 and into 2026. TRON's transaction throughput, which can exceed 10,000 transactions per second, has made it attractive for applications requiring rapid settlement of dollar-denominated transactions.

The TRON ecosystem has expanded its decentralized finance footprint alongside stablecoin adoption. Lending protocols, decentralized exchanges, and cross-chain bridges built on TRON have grown to handle the increased volume, though the ecosystem remains concentrated among a smaller number of protocols compared to Ethereum's more fragmented structure.
Tether's expansion on TRON competes with other Layer 1 blockchains seeking stablecoin infrastructure. Solana, Polygon, and other networks have similarly pursued USDT deployments, but TRON's combination of low fees and transaction speed has made it the second-largest venue for the token. The $87.9 billion supply on TRON grew by approximately $8 billion in the second quarter alone.
The document to watch is Messari's next quarterly TRON state report, due in November 2026, which will show whether USDT supply on the chain continues expanding at its current pace or whether growth moderates.
