Synopsys raised its full-year fiscal 2026 revenue midpoint to $9.72B, narrowing its prior range to $9.70B-$9.73B amid accelerating demand for electronic design automation tools driven by artificial intelligence chip development.

The company's electronic design automation segment is on track to deliver double-digit growth in the fourth quarter, according to the announcement. CFO Shelagh Glaser confirmed the guidance during the third-quarter earnings call on Aug. 26. Semiconductor design teams are accelerating their use of AI tools to optimize chip architecture, power efficiency and time-to-market.

Synopsys is the largest independent supplier of EDA software globally, with revenue exceeding $8B annually before this quarter. The company's tools are essential infrastructure for chip designers at every major semiconductor manufacturer and fabless firm, from TSMC and Samsung to Nvidia and AMD. EDA growth at double-digit rates in Q4 contrasts with low single-digit growth the segment posted through much of 2024 and early 2025, when semiconductor design activity had flattened after the prior cycle's inventory correction.

The guidance lift follows Synopsys's third-quarter performance, which the company said delivered results in line with or ahead of expectations. Synopsys competes directly with Cadence Design Systems and Siemens EDA in the market for circuit design, simulation and verification software. Cadence has also reported strong AI-driven demand for its tools over the same period, with both suppliers benefiting from accelerated design cycles at companies building generative AI inference and training chips.

The fourth-quarter guidance of double-digit EDA growth is material to Synopsys's overall business mix. EDA is the company's largest segment by revenue, accounting for roughly 50% of total revenue historically. Reaching double-digit growth in a segment of that size within a single quarter would represent a substantial acceleration from the company's historical mid-to-high single-digit EDA growth rates in prior years.

The number to watch is Synopsys's Q4 FY2026 earnings release, expected in late September 2026, which will show whether EDA growth actually achieved the double-digit target and whether demand for AI-driven chip design tools sustained through the full quarter.
