Commonwealth Fusion Systems, another nuclear venture-backed company, reached a $6 billion valuation in 2022. TerraPower, backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and others, has moved through design phases with Department of Energy support.

Nvidia's data center ambitions require massive and stable power supplies. The chip maker has indicated interest in on-site or dedicated generation to meet its own expanding energy needs. A long-term power supply agreement with a reactor developer addresses both capacity and reliability concerns that spot market and grid-scale procurement cannot fully solve.
