Ondo Finance has deployed its USDY tokenised short-term treasury token on the Tempo blockchain, according to an announcement from the company. USDY, which holds a market capitalization of $2.2 billion across all networks, is now accessible to Tempo users.
USDA is a tokenised US Treasury Bill fund that lets users hold yield-bearing digital assets backed by short-duration government debt. The token has become one of the largest real-world asset plays in decentralized finance; Ondo's treasury product competes with similar offerings from Franklin Templeton, BlackRock, and others building institutional-grade onchain infrastructure. Tempo, launched as a stablecoin-focused layer-1 blockchain, aims to provide users direct access to yield-bearing assets within a dedicated ecosystem.
Ondo has expanded USDY across multiple blockchains in the past year, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, and Optimism. The Tempo deployment extends that multichain strategy to a newer settlement layer with explicit focus on stablecoin activity. Several major asset managers have launched competing products since 2024, with total market capitalization for the category now exceeding $5 billion on-chain.

USDA holders earn yield accruing from the underlying Treasury positions, with the rate reset daily. The token has attracted allocators seeking regulatory clarity and institutional-grade collateral without exposure to algorithmic stablecoins. Ondo's governance token ONDO trades separately and does not carry yield.
Tempo's blockchain emphasizes speed and stablecoin compatibility. The network targets payment and treasury use cases rather than decentralized derivatives or gaming applications. Adding a $2.2 billion asset class to Tempo's ecosystem provides immediate liquidity and a foundation for downstream financial applications on the chain.
Ondo's expansion across layer-1 and layer-2 networks has kept USDY's market share stable even as competitors enter the market. The Tempo deployment does not materially reduce Ondo's reliance on Ethereum, which remains the dominant settlement layer for RWA tokens by volume. Ondo has now deployed USDY across five major blockchains within twelve months. If USDY adoption on Tempo reaches $100 million in value within the next six months, it would represent meaningful institutional confidence in the chain as a treasury settlement venue.
