Nineteen cryptocurrency tokens face scheduled unlocks in September, with a combined unlock value exceeding $1.535 billion, according to data from Tokenomist tracked across multiple crypto analytics platforms.
The unlocks split into two categories. Seven tokens including HYPE, XPL, ENA, ZRO, H, CARDS, and ARB face one-time cliff unlocks exceeding $10 million each over the month. Twelve additional tokens including RAIN, SOL, CC, TRUMP, ZEC, ASTER, WLD, MORPHO, PUMP, TAO, AVAX, and NEAR have linear unlock schedules of more than $10 million per month.

Token unlocks occur when vested coins held by early investors, team members, or treasury allocations become tradeable. A large unlock can pressure token prices if sellers flood the market, particularly when the selling pressure exceeds available buy-side demand. The scale of September's scheduled unlocks ranks among the largest monthly unlock windows tracked by Tokenomist this year.

SOL and AVAX, two of the largest networks by market capitalization, carry material monthly linear unlocks. ARB, the governance token of Arbitrum, faces a significant cliff unlock after months of relatively lighter unlock activity. NEAR and TAO, both top-20 tokens by market cap, also appear on the September schedule.
Market participants monitor unlock calendars because they can create predictable selling pressure. Tokens with large upcoming unlocks sometimes trade at discounts in the weeks preceding the release as forward-looking sellers enter positions. Conversely, tokens with completed unlock schedules sometimes attract buyers betting that supply growth has slowed.
The concentration of $1.535 billion in unlocks within a single month compares to typical monthly unlock volumes in the $800 million to $1.2 billion range across the broader token ecosystem. September's window represents approximately 27 percent of typical annual unlock activity compressed into four weeks.
The unlock calendar does not account for lock-ups, burns, or voluntary holder commitments that may reduce actual selling pressure. Tokenomist data tracks scheduled events on blockchain; individual token teams sometimes negotiate extended vesting with large holders or burn portions of allocations prior to unlock dates.
