NEAR Protocol has processed $25 billion in cumulative transaction volume through its Intents system, according to an announcement posted by the protocol on X. The figure tracks organic growth across multiple blockchains and asset types routed through the single abstraction layer.
The milestone comes five months after NEAR announced $20 billion in Intents volume on June 3, 2026. The protocol reached $22 billion in late July and $24 billion by August 11, 2026, placing the $25 billion threshold in recent weeks. Intents is NEAR's model for transaction routing: users specify an outcome they want rather than the exact steps to achieve it, and the protocol executes the settlement across chains and assets without forcing users to manage each step manually.

NEAR launched Intents as a cross-chain abstraction tool designed to consolidate fragmented liquidity and reduce user friction. The system routes transactions across multiple blockchains and token types through a unified interface, letting users request a final state without choosing the path. Higher transaction volume through Intents means more users are routing transactions through the abstraction layer rather than bridging and swapping manually.
The protocol has positioned Intents as core to its competitive pitch against other chains and abstraction layers. In June 2026, when NEAR announced the $20 billion milestone, the protocol stated that the figure represented "organic" growth without prominent marketing pushes or incentive programs. The two subsequent milestones in July and August show sustained adoption across the routing system.
Intents volume is distinct from total NEAR chain activity. It measures the subset of transactions that flow through the Intents routing system specifically, not all transactions settling on NEAR itself. The $25 billion cumulative total counts every transaction routed through Intents since its launch, not the current run rate or annualized figure.
The cadence of milestones, $20 billion announced, then $22 billion three weeks later, then $24 billion two weeks after that, then $25 billion within days, shows accelerating growth velocity in recent months. Annualized at the August-to-September rate, the protocol would process roughly $52 billion in Intents volume per year, though historical acceleration cannot predict future rates. The pathway from $22 billion to $25 billion in five weeks is the sharpest phase of growth NEAR has reported for the metric.
