Lumentum Holdings reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.006 billion, exceeding analyst expectations of $987.70 million by $18.3 million, driven by demand for optical components serving artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The optical networking equipment maker posted adjusted earnings per share of $3.23, above the consensus estimate of $2.97. The company achieved 109 percent year-over-year revenue growth, according to the earnings announcement posted after market close on August 11.

Lumentum manufactures optical transceivers, tunable lasers, and other photonic components that move data in data centers and telecommunications networks. Hyperscaler data centers require optical components to connect processing chips and storage systems at scale. The company said in its announcement that demand from AI-related applications drove the outperformance in Q4.

The beat marks the latest revenue acceleration for Lumentum in a period when demand for components supporting large language models and generative AI workloads has reshaped capital allocation in semiconductor and networking hardware. Hyperscalers including Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Meta have expanded optical capacity as they compete to deploy inference and training clusters. Lumentum competes with Broadcom, Marvell Technology and Infinera in supplying these components.

The company's adjusted EPS beat of $0.26 over consensus accompanies gross margin expansion alongside the revenue beat. Lumentum did not provide forward guidance in the announcement, a standard practice during earnings announcements, but said the company expects continued growth driven by AI data center deployments.

The earnings result extends a substantial stock run. Lumentum shares had rallied approximately 600 percent over the prior twelve months as investors repriced exposure to optical networking plays tied to AI capex cycles. The Q4 beat and confirmation of AI-driven demand may influence how allocators weight optical component makers relative to other semiconductor subsectors in the near term.

The measure that will test Lumentum's growth narrative is whether the company maintains quarter-over-quarter revenue acceleration in fiscal 2027, particularly if gross margins remain above 60 percent as the optical component market scales.
