LayerZero Executor wallets were compromised, resulting in approximately $2.4M in cryptocurrency drained across eight blockchains, according to security researchers. The attacker moved stolen funds to Ethereum and converted most into 956 ETH and $322K USDC.

The compromise affected wallets on BNB Chain, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Mantle, Plasma, and Ethereum. LayerZero Labs has not yet publicly disclosed the incident or released a forensics report. No official announcement from the company could be located as of press time.

LayerZero is an omnichain messaging protocol used by decentralized finance applications and cross-chain bridges. The Executor role involves executing messages across different blockchains.

The reported incident follows earlier high-profile exploits of systems using LayerZero's architecture. In April, KelpDAO's bridge lost $292M, with the platform later claiming LayerZero's default settings contributed to the vulnerability. In July, a Hedera network exploit resulted in $5.8M in stolen assets.

LayerZero has been in focus among security researchers following these earlier incidents. The compromise affected eight separate blockchains simultaneously, exposing the protocol's cross-chain infrastructure to multiple networks at once.
