Binance has listed GMEB, a tokenized version of GameStop shares, on its BNB Chain network through its bStocks program, enabling round-the-clock trading of the volatile stock outside traditional U.S. market hours.

The listing, which went live August 12, allows holders to trade GameStop equity on-chain without the settlement delays or operating-hour restrictions of conventional stock exchanges. Binance's bStocks program, launched in August, tokenizes U.S.-listed equities on BNB Chain and uses centralized custody to maintain 1:1 backing with underlying shares.

The GameStop listing marks an expansion of the bStocks product line beyond its initial rollout. Binance has been moving methodically into tokenized equities as demand for on-chain access to traditional assets grows among retail traders unable to participate during U.S. market closures. The bStocks infrastructure bypasses the need for traditional brokerage rails, settling trades natively on the blockchain.

GameStop shares have drawn sustained attention from retail trading communities since 2021. The stock trades with high daily volatility, and the tokenized version removes the constraint of U.S. trading hours, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern, while introducing the settlement speed of on-chain transactions. Traders can hold GMEB directly in their wallets rather than through a brokerage account.

Binance's foray into tokenized equities sits within a broader push by large exchanges and fintech platforms to bridge tradFi and crypto infrastructure. The bStocks program holds regulatory licenses in several jurisdictions and maintains full backing of all tokens with the underlying securities held in custody, a structure designed to comply with emerging regulations around digital asset issuance.

GMEB is trading on PancakeSwap, Binance's decentralized exchange on BNB Chain, alongside other on-chain trading venues. Binance has not disclosed trading volume or the number of GMEB tokens issued as of August 12. The mechanism requires traders to verify their identity and comply with Binance's terms before accessing tokenized equities, limiting the audience to accounts that pass KYC checks.

The question tracking adoption of tokenized equities is whether retail participants will actually use on-chain settlement for stock trading or treat tokenized shares as a way to express directional bets during off-hours. The first meaningful measure will arrive when Binance reports monthly trading figures for the bStocks product suite, which will show whether GameStop or other tokenized equities are capturing real volume or functioning as novelty instruments.
