Binance has placed four tokens on a monitoring tag, according to an announcement posted September 4, 2026. The exchange flagged Avalanche (AVA), Gains Network (GNS), Scroll (SCR), and Towns (TOWNS) for closer review, a designation that precedes potential delisting.
The announcement specified that the monitoring tag assesses tokens against six criteria: team commitment and responsiveness, development activity, trading volume, liquidity, network stability, and tokenomics. Tokens remain tradeable during the review period.
Binance has used the monitoring tag as a formal warning mechanism for years. Tokens placed under review typically face a review window before the exchange decides whether to maintain or remove them. The four tokens flagged represent a mix of infrastructure and derivatives protocols. Scroll is an Ethereum layer-2 network; Gains Network provides decentralized trading with margin; Avalanche is an independent blockchain; Towns is a social protocol.
The monitoring tag does not guarantee delisting. Binance has historically allowed tokens to graduate from monitoring status if they address the underlying concerns. The exchange also maintains separate criteria for trading pairs, which can remain listed even if the underlying token faces scrutiny on the spot market.

Monitoring designations have become more common as major exchanges tighten listing standards. Binance, Coinbase, and other platforms have invoked similar review procedures in response to regulatory pressure and declining trading volumes on lower-tier assets. The practice effectively segments the exchange's listing into tiers of confidence.
The four tokens combined represent less than 0.1 percent of Binance's active trading pairs by count. Scroll, the largest by market capitalization among the four, trades with roughly 3 percent of the volume of Ethereum on major exchanges. The designation may restrict institutional access, as some funds operate under policies excluding tokens under review from major exchanges.
The threshold for removing a token from monitoring status depends on Binance's internal assessment of each criterion. The exchange has not published timelines for individual reviews, and tokens have remained in monitoring status for periods ranging from weeks to months.
