Anthropic has signed a $35B compute agreement with Lambda, a Nvidia-backed infrastructure provider, anchoring the deal to a 700-megawatt data center campus in Texas that Hut 8 is leasing to the arrangement, according to reporting from the Wall Street Journal.

Nvidia will supply the chips and is leasing the underlying Texas facility from Hut 8, while Lambda provides the compute layer to Anthropic. Hut 8 had previously disclosed 15-year leases covering the entire campus, which the company said could represent a roughly $20B facility, but had not named the tenant until now.

The deal anchors one of the largest recent infrastructure commitments in the AI sector. Anthropic, which has raised $5B in funding and remains one of the most capitalized AI labs outside of OpenAI, has been aggressive in securing compute capacity as competition for Nvidia H100 and H200 chips intensifies. Foundation model companies have been locking in long-term capacity agreements to secure resources for training and inference workloads.

Hut 8 operates roughly 350 megawatts of capacity across four data center campuses in North America. The 700-megawatt Texas facility represents an expansion of its infrastructure footprint and the company had been in the market for tenants willing to commit to long-term leases. The Anthropic deal fills what Hut 8 had described as a flagship campus asset.

Lambda, founded in 2018, provides cloud compute infrastructure for AI workloads. The company has raised funding from Nvidia and operates GPU clusters across multiple regions. The firm competes with CoreWeave, Lambda Labs, and other specialized AI infrastructure providers in securing long-term enterprise customers.

AnthropicLambda arrangement comes as foundation model companies face sustained demand for training and inference capacity and Nvidia chip allocation remains constrained despite increased production. A similar infrastructure deal was announced in the AI sector within weeks.

The size of the Anthropic deal, at $35B over its term, is roughly 1.75 times the full value of the Texas facility that Hut 8 had disclosed. Whether the number represents multiyear pricing, service markups, or other embedded costs remains unclear from available disclosures.

The filing or official announcement from Anthropic that would spell out the deal's structure and timeline has not yet been made public.
